Medical Assistant
Diploma Program
Medical assistant students learn administrative and clinical skills needed to help physician offices run more efficiently.
Anthem Institute—Springfield offers a Medical Assistant Diploma that trains students for entry-level positions in medical offices.
Medical Assistant Clinical Training and Techniques
Medical assistant students attending Anthem Institute study anatomy and body systems. They learn clinical techniques including venipuncture and injection and electrocardiogram administration. They are taught how to assist with exams and treatment as well as medical office procedures and administrative tasks. A 101 course addresses a range of subjects they need to perform effectively in a medical office, including psychology, communications and human relations.
Anthem Institute is focused on student achievement. Our classroom environment encourages individualized instruction and questions. Students learn and practice their skills in real-world labs built to look like actual physician offices. All students meet with our Education Department staff for academic advising and help with mapping out a schedule. Tutoring is available on campus, and students are encouraged to join study groups. We even have a Student Services Department that assists students with getting outside services they need to remain in school.
After successfully completing all coursework, students enter an externship in a healthcare setting to gain professional experience. Program graduates can compete for jobs as medical secretaries and medical and clinical lab technicians as well as medical assistants.
