Medical Assisting

Diploma Program

Medical assistant students learn to handle a variety of clinical and administrative procedures needed in physician offices.

The Medical Assisting Diploma program offered by Anthem College—Orlando, prepares students for entry-level positions as medical assistants, lab technicians, or medical secretaries.

Comprehensive Medical Assisting Training

Students receive hands-on training in diagnostic and laboratory techniques. They learn how to operate electrocardiology (ECG) machinery and read graphs. They are taught to give injections, and perform urinalysis and venipuncture. They study medical terminologies, the respiratory and circulatory systems, and how to measure body temperature, blood pressure,  pulse and respiratory rates. They are also trained to provide medical office emergency procedures.

In addition, students learn key administrative procedures including handling correspondence, scheduling appointments and communicating with patients. They learn the concepts of medical insurance and billing processes and medical recordkeeping.

At Anthem College, we are dedicated to our students’ success. We offer an environment that supports their academic and career goals:

  • Real-world labs where students get hands-on training and practice
  • A Student Services department that helps students get services they need to stay in school
  • Education Department staff who provide academic advising, arrange for tutoring and organize study groups

The career outlook for medical assistants is very good, particularly in the Orlando region, which is home to more than 2,700 physicians. Dozens of hospitals are in the area, including the renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Orlando Regional Medical Center, and at least two pediatric hospitals. The University of Central Florida Medical School is located in Orlando as well.
