Medical Assistant

Diploma Program

Medical assistant programs prepare students to handle a variety of clinical and administrative procedures needed in physician offices.

Medical Assistant Training

Anthem College—Beaverton (Portland, OR) offers a Diploma in Medical Assistant that prepares students for entry-level positions as  medical assistants, medical secretaries, and medical and clinical laboratory technicians.

Hands-on Medical Assistant Training

Students receive hands-on training in clinical and laboratory procedures such as urinalysis, hematology, and measuring blood pressure, body temperatures, pulse and respiratory rates. They learn sterilization and injection techniques, and study medical terminologies, the respiratory and circulatory systems, and how to operate electrocardiology (ECG) machinery and read its graphs.

Students also learn key administrative procedures including handling correspondence, scheduling appointments and communicating with patients. They are introduced to the concepts of medical insurance, billing processes and medical recordkeeping.

At Anthem College, we want to give our students the support they need to succeed.  We provide:

  • Student services that help students remain in school
  • Real-world labs where students can develop and practice their skills
  • Academic advising, tutoring and study groups organized by the Education Department
  • Supportive community environment

After they successfully complete all coursework, students enter an externship in a healthcare setting, which prepares them to sit for examinations to become certified as a Registered Medical Assistant, American Medical Technologist, or Certified Medical Assistant from different professional organizations.

Student who have qualified for the Anthem College-Beaverton ATB program are eligible to enroll in the Medical Assistant diploma program.
