Anthem Education History
Anthem Education dates to 1965, with the establishment of the High-Tech Electronics Institute of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ. In the 1980s, new management focused on expanding the school’s offerings to provide training in other careers to meet the changing needs of the expanding Phoenix population. This included acquiring The Bryman School of Arizona, a healthcare training school originally founded in 1964.
Anthem Education programs are developed with direct input from employers, who tell us what capabilities they want their employees to bring to the job. This ensures that our curriculum and training give students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers.
Over the years, Anthem Education acquired or launched additional schools and colleges to provide focused training and education for students interested in entering or advancing their positions in healthcare, technology, criminal justice, business or paralegal careers. New campuses included the schools in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania; a pair of healthcare training schools in the St. Louis, Missouri region; and Morrison University in Reno, Nevada, a business school founded in 1902.
As more institutions joined the Anthem team, they were rebranded with the Anthem name. Today, there are 12 campuses known as Anthem College, six known as Anthem Institute, and two in Tennessee that are called Anthem Career College.
An online school, Anthem College Online, was launched in 2003 for students interested in earning associate and bachelor degrees, including degree completion programs.
From the start, the philosophy at Anthem Education has been that students succeed when they are well-supported by faculty and staff. Classes are taught by instructors who are successful career professionals and provide individualized education and interaction. Students develop and practice their skills in modern labs, on the same kind of equipment used in the field. They regularly meet with academic advisors who ensure they take the right classes as the right time, and can turn to dedicated Student Services staff to get outside services they may need to help them remain in school.
Experienced career services professionals at each campus—including the online college—assist students with job placement. Students learn how to prepare a resume and how to handle an interview. Career services staff identify job openings, host career fairs and maintain ties with local employers.
Financial aid is available to students who qualify. Anthem Education also works closely with veterans and military personnel to help them identify and apply for military-specific financial aid packages.
Today, Anthem operates 22 local campuses and Anthem College Online. Local campuses provide accelerated training and education that lead to diplomas or associate degrees. Students may earn diplomas and associate and bachelor’s degrees at Anthem College Online. Morrison University offers an MBA as well associate and bachelor’s degrees in accounting, management and computer science.
Because of their unique backgrounds, Morrison University and The Bryman School of Arizona retained their historic names.
